Applying for a connection

This is an application to request:

  • a new connection to a water, sewerage, recycled water, or fire service
  • an alteration to an existing water, sewerage, recycled water, or fire service connection
  • or to disconnect from an existing water, sewerage, recycled water, or fire service connection

You are eligible to apply if:

  • You are the owner of the property, or,
  • You are a person authorised by the owner of the property

We will provide all communications to the party who submits this application. It is the responsibility of that party to communicate with the owner/s or occupier/s of the property.

How long an application takes:

Your online application will take 10-15 minutes to complete.

We will aim to provide an invoice for the requested service within 20 business days.

You will receive a tracking number via email to follow your application's progress using our online Application Tracker. Your case manager will be in touch if any additional information is needed and will also keep you updated on your application’s progress.

Commercial

  • A Building /Hydraulic plan is required for any commercial/ industrial development with connections 25mm and greater
  • A Drain layout plan showing fixtures is required for all commercial sewerage applications

Fire Service

  • Network analysis results for fire service connections (apply here)
  • Flow test results for fire service connections (apply here)

Applications are subject to the terms and conditions contained within SA Water's Standard Customer Contract, and the Connection's Policy.

When assessing your application, we may identify conditions that have an impact on your connection. These are known as Special Characteristics and if we identify these, we will notify you. If you choose to proceed, your service will be subject to the Special Characteristics Schedule in addition to SA Water’s Standard Customer Contract.

Fire service connection type

  • A fire service connection is a water connection for the sole purpose of firefighting.
  • The fire service connection application follows the same process as water and sewerage connection applications
  • SA Water does not accept liability for flow rates and water pressure that do not meet the minimum requirement of the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service or the Country Fire Service. SA Water is not obligated to design, construct or maintain its water supply network for firefighting purposes. SA Water complies with any requirement or scheme established under section 98 of the Water Industry Act 2012.
