Privacy collection notice
| Who we are | Your personal information is being collected by the South Australian Water Corporation and our employees, contractors and contracted service providers in the course of carrying out our business (together, SA Water, we, our or us). |
| What is in this notice? | This notice describes how we collect, use and handle your personal information. It includes information about: - the kinds of personal information we collect; - the reasons we collect and use that information; - who we share your information with; and - how to contact us with any questions, requests or complaints. This notice should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy, which contains more information about the ways we collect, use and handle personal information. By providing your personal information to us, you agree to us collecting, holding, using, disclosing, storing, handling and disposing of your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Your personal information is protected under the Information Privacy Principles set out in the Government of South Australia’s Premier and Cabinet Circular PC012 – Information Privacy Principles (IPPS) Instruction. |
| How do we collect personal information? | We generally collect personal information directly from you (e.g. in person, by telephone, letter, email, SMS, forms or online portals). We also collect information when you interact with our website, social media and other digital platforms or services. In some circumstances, we may collect personal information about you from other sources, such as a person acting on your behalf, a recruiter where you are applying for employment with us, [telephone recordings or CCTV photographs or video surveillance at our sites, our service providers, public bodies, publicly available sources or other third parties. If you give us personal information about another person, you must either have authority to do so (such as power of attorney), or have their prior consent to us collecting, using and handling their personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. You must also make them aware of this notice. |
| What personal information do we collect? | The types of personal information we collect will be dependent upon your interaction with us or the services we provide to you. It may include, but is not limited to: -Information about your identity and contact details (e.g. your name, gender, date of birth, property and billing address, email and telephone number) -Information contained in identity documents (e.g. your driver’s licence or passport) -Concession status and details -Property use, water use and waste information -Plumber’s registration details -Online account and authentication information -Credit card and/or bank account details -Company and trading name, Australian Business Number, Australian Company Number and GST registration (e.g. for our corporate customers and suppliers) -Occupation, education, qualification, employment, citizenship, residency and visa details, and trade or professional memberships and associations (e.g. for our employees and our potential recruits) -Tax file numbers, superannuation details, leave and payroll information (for our employees) -[Photographic images, videos (including CCTV footage) and/or voice recordings;] -IP address and other information collected from our website, social media and other digital platforms and services -Health or other sensitive information about an individual (e.g. where relevant to services we provide to health-impaired individuals, our employees or potential recruits) -Information provided by regulators -Responses to requests for public consultation -Information permitted or required by law or order of a court or tribunal -Other information notified or requested at the time of collection |
| For what purposes do we collect personal information? | The purposes for which we collect your personal information include, but are not limited to, the following purposes: -To fulfil our statutory functions and responsibilities, provide our services and administer our organisation We do not use personal information for a purpose other than the purpose for which it was collected (or an incidental or connected purpose), except in the circumstances set out in our Privacy Policy. |
| What if we didn’t collect this personal information? | You can refuse to provide us with your personal information. However, without your personal information, we may not be able to provide you with some or all of our services, communicate with you, process or respond to your enquiry, application or request, or perform some of our statutory functions. If we send you a survey, your response is completely voluntary. If you don’t complete a survey, this will not change anything regarding an account you may have with us. |
