Community Partnerships nurturing sustainable communities

Not-for-profit organisations looking to deliver projects or events that focus on water and sustainability, healthy communities or environmental leadership can now apply for SA Water’s 2024-25 Community Partnerships Program.

Back for its sixth year, the program has so far supported around 50 organisations based in regional and metropolitan areas of South Australia, with up to $10,000 in funding or in-kind support available for each project or event.

SA Water’s Manager of Brand and Community Marketing Kellie McDonald said previous recipients of the program have delivered fantastic outcomes highlighting the importance of water in everyday life.

“The program has demonstrated success by supporting innovative and engaging community-based projects around the state,” Kellie said.

“From the creation of a therapeutic horticultural program for multicultural communities to the construction of a seasonal wetland, the program has given community groups a helping hand with many fantastic projects focused on the sustainable use of water.

“One of our 2023-24 projects is with the State Opera of South Australia, who have produced a performance for primary school students that follows a spoiled princess and a spirited frog as they embark on a journey through South Australia’s underground water systems, learning lessons of sustainability, recycling, and waste management.

“We’re passionate about making a difference and want to partner with groups who are invested in delivering positive outcomes that align with our vision to deliver trusted water services for a sustainable and healthy South Australia.

“Water is essential for hydration and maintaining wellbeing, and beyond this, is used in everyone’s daily routines, from cooking and sanitation to supporting agriculture.

"If your not-for-profit organisation has an idea that fits with our sustainability criteria and connection to water, and also benefits your local community, we’d love to hear from you.

“Applications for our Community Partnerships Program close on 5 April 2024, with funding for the successful recipients to be made available from July 2024.”
