Water partnerships ripple across South Australia

From the Riverland to the Adelaide Hills, SA Water is partnering with nine grassroots groups across the state as part of its 2024-25 Community Partnerships Program.

The annual program provides a total of $75,000 in financial support towards initiatives or events focused on environmental sustainability and improving community wellbeing through effective water use.

SA Water's Manager of Brand and Community Connection Kellie McDonald said the partnerships demonstrate the important role water plays in society and the environment, from cooking, washing and sanitation, to growing food, supporting jobs and economic development.

“The work of our successful applicants cover a wide range of areas including a sensory water efficient garden, a mural reflecting local waterways and an educational video featuring content on water conservation around the River Murray,” Kellie said.

“These projects are focused on creating more water aware communities and  practices  along with cool, green spaces, which aligns with our strategy to promote thriving,  liveable communities.

"It's fantastic to be partnering with not-for-profit community groups to help create a more healthy and sustainable South Australia.”

This year, through SA Water’s Community Partnerships Program, the utility is supporting:

  • The African Women’s Federation of SA – African Oasis Community and Sensory Garden
  • AUSMAP, Total Environment Centre – Microplastic Mapping: Creating environmental stewards for a sustainable future
  • Berri Regional Secondary College – Raising awareness about the importance of water conservation
