Funding support for eco-friendly fun at SA’s reservoir reserves

Not-for-profit groups are invited to apply for up to $10,000 in funding support to host events or projects at South Australia’s open access reservoir reserves.

Back for its fifth year, SA Water’s Reservoirs Partnership Program offers financial assistance to not-for-profit organisations with innovative ideas that promote environmental conservation, outdoor recreation or community education.

SA Water’s Senior Manager of Environment and Energy James Crocker said there are abundant opportunities at these community spaces to showcase the importance of natural environments and water sources.

“These places of natural beauty have been transformed into recreational destinations and we want to activate these spaces further,” James said.

“Through the program, we’ve supported many wonderful initiatives over the past four years and are excited to help deliver new projects that enhance visitor experiences and provide opportunities for everyone to enjoy our reserves.

“This program has helped launch some amazing projects at our 10 open access reservoirs around the state, and I look forward to seeing more great ideas flow in from the community.

“Successful recipients in 2023-24 included women’s kayaking workshops, a walking event, an art workshop co-facilitated with a Kaurna artist and an underwater camera to monitor the endangered Murray Cod.

“By supporting these initiatives, we are not only enhancing our reservoir reserves but also fostering a culture of community stewardship and environmental appreciation.
