SA Water’s long term plans provide a proactive approach to planning the strategic direction for augmenting SA Water’s assets with particular reference to ensuring infrastructure and resources have capacity to meet customer requirements into the future.
SA Water’s Long Term Plan for Yorke Peninsula considers the potable water supply within the areas defined by SA Water’s existing Upper Paskeville, Warooka and Lower Paskeville water supply systems over a study period of 30 years (i.e. 2007-08 to 2037-38).
An outcome of the plan is to guide the scheduling of capital works for the Yorke Peninsula region.
Integral to the development of SA Water’s Long Term Plan for Yorke Peninsula was the level of stakeholder engagement in identifying key issues, assessing water security options and reviewing the draft version.
The development of the long term plan was overseen by an External Project Reference Group with representation from the District Council of Yorke Peninsula, the Northern and Yorke Natural Resources Management Board, the Yorke Regional Development Board and SA Water. The District Council of the Copper Coast has been engaged separately in the planning process to enable SA Water and the Council to highlight and address issues specific to their area.
